The first race of the Kajot bet FIS World Cup Nordic Combined in Liberec was dominated by athletes from Austria. The winner is Austrian Bernhard Gruber, member of the gold-winning relays from the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and 2011 World Championships in Oslo. Third place went to Wilhelm Denifl, the first of his career. They both started the cross-country portion in the lead positions after ski jumping, but Eric Frenzel, the 2011 World Champion from Germany, managed to wedge himself between the two Austrians after a magnificent cross country performance.

The ski jumping took place in Ještěd while the cross country skiing was held in Bedřichov. The first winner was the remarkable Japanese athlete Kenji Ogiwara.
