OSLO (NOR) , 10 March 2012 - Bryan Fletcher from the USA is the winner of this season s final Individual Gundersen competition in Oslo, Norway. Mikko Kokslien (NOR) ranked second, Taihei Kato (JPN) finished third. Jason Lamy Chappuis finally claimed the overall victory.

The second day of the DKB FIS World Cup Nordic Combined in Liberec, the world s elite in the Nordic Combined, managed to triumph over the whims of weather. This time, the individual Gundersen (HS 100/10 km) was dominated by the Japanese Akito Watabe. As compensation for the Saturday s disappointment, the current leader of the World Cup standings Jason Lamy Chappuis from France took the silver medal.

The first race of the Kajot bet FIS World Cup Nordic Combined in Liberec was dominated by athletes from Austria. The winner is Austrian Bernhard Gruber, member of the gold-winning relays from the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and 2011 World Championships in Oslo. Third place went to Wilhelm Denifl, the first of his career. They both started the cross-country portion in the lead positions after ski jumping, but Eric Frenzel, the 2011 World Champion from Germany, managed to wedge himself between the two Austrians after a magnificent cross country performance.

Liberec: ten times in the World Cup
Thus far, Liberec has hosted the FIS World Cup Nordic Combined ten times. The first time the complete NC elite arrived in Liberec was in 1995. The ski jumping took place in Ještěd while the cross country skiing was held in Bedřichov. The first winner was the remarkable Japanese athlete Kenji Ogiwara.

Adverse weather conditions, too warm and no snow. This is the current situation in most parts of skiing Europe. Unfortunately, this also affects the programme of the FIS World Cup in the Nordic combined. Two resorts suffered from unsatisfactory weather conditions, which significantly complicated the work of the race organisers.
